A vintage 1947 McCalls sewing pattern was my inspiration for this fashion. This was that sliver of time between the end of World War II and Dior’s New Look with its nipped in waist and voluminous skirts.
During the war, fabric was scarce, so skirt length and width were restricted, as well as the width of women’s slacks. Two years after the war, fashion was just beginning to take some tiny steps forward, as evidenced by the discreet side drape on this skirt.
This fashion is available now in my Etsy shop.
