Wedding hankies embroidered with colored threads are rare. This one with pink roses is especially nice. I paired it with pink handkerchief linen for the drop waist bodice, bow, and pillbox hat. Rhinestone brooch included. Available now in my Etsy shop.
Here’s an elegant 1950’s inspired wedding dress complete with pillbox hat and veil. Skirt and hat are made from a vintage hand embroidered wedding hankie. Bodice is made from silk tissue taffeta. Available now in my Etsy shop.
This unusual hankie has appliqued butterflies accented with hand embroidery in shades of pink, peach, and aqua. I paired it with peach dupioni silk for the bodice. I think it looks especially nice on blonde and redheaded dolls. Available now in my Etsy shop.

With the other half of the petit point hankie I used for the Rose Garden dress, I made a detachable overskirt to go with this sleek pink silk strapless dress. Available now in my Etsy shop.
I’m always on the lookout for gorgeous vintage hankies to add to my stash. In normal circumstances, I like to haunt antique shops a couple times a month. But during this time, I’m limited to online resources like eBay and Etsy. In the past few weeks, I’ve purchased these exquisite petit point and hand embroidered hankies from online sellers. Which one shall I make into a Barbie dress next?
You know me and vintage wedding hankies … I just can’t get enough of them! The hand embroidery is exquisite!
I was soaking a bunch of vintage hankies in OxyClean to brighten them and take away any yellowing from age when I found this one in my stash.
I made a new skirt pattern that was full enough to show off the embroidery but still fit on the 11” square hankie. Not an easy feat! I used scraps from another wedding hankie to make the bodice and hat. Belt and rhinestone brooch are included too. Available now in my Etsy shop.
