Autumn Bouquet

It seems like it has been a while since I’ve made a dress from a petit point hankie. I found this stunning petit point hankie on eBay in a lot of embroidered mourning hankies. The embroidery is so lush and gorgeous that I started sewing almost as soon as I opened the package. I used blue silk tissue taffeta for the waistband and side drape. Available now in my Etsy shop.

Amethyst Dreams for Barbie, Poppy Parker, & Victoire Roux

Remember that vintage silk petit point trim I purchased from eBay? Well, here’s dress #3 from that trim. This time, instead of pairing it with matching green silk, I decided to contrast it with amethyst dupioni silk. It really makes the pansies pop. Truly one of a kind luxury!

I also finished up refurbishing the vintage Susy Goose Barbie piano. The photo of vintage Ken was missing, so I replaced it with a photo of Silkstone Gianfranco Ken. So much cuter!

Elegant Pansies for Barbie, Poppy Parker, and Victoire Roux

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I stumbled across 6 yards of vintage petit point embroidered trim. The embroidery threads are silk on a silk backing. I just happened to have green silk fabric in my stash that matches perfectly. So what else could I do but make this gorgeous ensemble for your favorite doll?

Fashion is sewn entirely by hand (my hand, needle, and thread … no machines in sight). Exquisite petit point hand embroidery covers the front of the corset top while the back is fastened with green pearl buttons over metal snaps. The inside of the entire fashion is lined in blush pink cotton fabric. Fashion includes corset top and long skirt only.

Fashion available now in my Etsy shop. This won’t be the only fashion I make from this gorgeous trim, so don’t despair if you miss out on this one.

Petit point delight!

One of my favorite searches on eBay and Etsy is “petit point.” There are some deliciously embroidered pieces out there. Last week, I found this amazing petit point trim on eBay — 6 full yards of it! I got into a bit of a bidding war, but I managed to win in the end. Now to figure out what to do with all this gorgeousness. I’m thinking I can sew strips of it together to make a fabric for a Barbie dress … or two … or twenty …
