You know me and vintage wedding hankies … I just can’t get enough of them! The hand embroidery is exquisite!
I was soaking a bunch of vintage hankies in OxyClean to brighten them and take away any yellowing from age when I found this one in my stash.
I made a new skirt pattern that was full enough to show off the embroidery but still fit on the 11” square hankie. Not an easy feat! I used scraps from another wedding hankie to make the bodice and hat. Belt and rhinestone brooch are included too. Available now in my Etsy shop.
I’ve been going through my stash of hand embroidered wedding hankies and came across this exquisite beauty. It made into a beautiful skirt for this 50’s inspired prom dress. A bit of blue Dupioni silk makes for a striking bodice accented with seed beeds around the neckline. Available now in my Etsy shop.
What’s better than a 1950’s inspired prom dress? How about a luscious blush silk bodice with an exquisite hand embroidered skirt. Hand embroidered wedding hankies are truly works of art. This hankie was no exception. And even better, this dress is part of my dress sale. Available now in my Etsy shop.
This is a custom, reserved order. I used two hand embroidered wedding hankies to make the skirt, shrug, hat and purse. The bodice is made of blue silk with mother of pearl buttons down the back.
This is a custom order from an identical wedding hankie as my last dress, Blush Becomes Her. Only this time, instead of lining the dress in pink, I lined it in white. With the addition of a veil, it makes for an exquisite wedding dress.
It can be challenging to capture very pale shades of pink in a photo. While I do have some good photography lights, the winter sun is just not helping me out. So I made a little pink tulle wrap, changed dolls, and tried a variety of backgrounds to bring out the color. Did I succeed?
I found a pair of exquisitely hand-embroidered wedding hankies on eBay and just had to dig right in on one of them. The hankie was very sheer, so I layered it over a pink linen hankie to give the gown a blush color and highlight the embroidery. Pink pearl buttons over metal snaps fasten the corset top. A back slit adds movement to the skirt. And that lucious embroidery absolutely covers the gown. Available now in my Etsy shop.
