Vintage Dior for Barbie, Poppy Parker, and Victoire Roux

I’m having so much fun replicating this vintage Dior dress in 1/6 scale, I can’t seem to stop! This time I used a dupioni silk that was named dusty lavender, but it looks more pinky mauve to me. Now available in my Etsy shop.

I made another copy of the vintage Dior dress, this time in a pale french blue tissue taffeta. I had a fat 1/8 of a yard of this silk fabric and had just one little scrap left over. This is a custom order that is already spoken for. If you’d like a similar dress, just let me know.

Custom order

This week I’ve been working on a custom order. The client sent me a Coach scarf and a bandana as well as pictures of the fashions she wanted created. Here is the result.

Leaves of Gold II for Barbie, Poppy Parker, and Victoire Roux

I love to browse through photos of vintage sewing patterns on Etsy, eBay, and Pinterest. Recently, I ran across a vintage Vogue pattern from around 1958. The pattern featured a couple different wraps. One was especially unusual because it featured short puffed sleeves. I played around a bit and was able to figure out how to make a miniature version of the wrap.

I decided to make a strapless dress to go underneath to really accentuate the lines of the wrap. And what better fabric to use than the vintage remnant of embroidered dupioni silk I found on eBay. I chose a princess seamed dress so I could really show off the embroidery. Available now in my Etsy shop.
