Lavinia for Barbie and friends

This dress is hand sewn from a vintage Lanvin of Paris handkerchief. The skirt has a shaped yoke that extends into a deep v in the front, reminiscent of Marie Antoinette’s iconic gowns. This allowed me to show off even more of the gorgeous gold border on the full gathered skirt by taking advantage of the corners of the handkerchief. This type of skirt seaming was revived circa 1956-57, and I’ve seen it again recently on dresses worn by celebrities. The bodice has flattering v-neckline in front with straps that form a square neckline in the back. Hat is hand sewn from millinery straw and accented with velvet flowers.
