OOAK face mask from vintage wedding hankies

I was organizing my fabric yesterday and discovered I have a lot of leftover scraps of vintage hand embroidered wedding hankies. The embroidery is so special, I just couldn’t bear to throw out the scraps. But I didn’t have enough left of any one hankie to make Barbie an outfit.

My niece is getting married next month, so I decided to see if I could piece together a face mask for her to wear at the reception. Turns out, I had enough scraps for 2 masks. So I made one for the bride and one to sell. Where the hankie scraps overlap, I stitched them together with little pearl beads. I lined the mask in white silk tissue taffeta, and added some vintage lace and a silk flower for even more detail. Available now in my Etsy shop.
