This weekend, my parents treated us to a concert and weekend in Shipshewana, Indiana. This small village of about 600 people has become a big draw for quilters, shoppers, and antique lovers. And if you love seeing horses and buggies, have I got the place for you! We arrived in town during the evening “rush hour” and I lost track of how many buggies we saw!
We stayed at the Blue Gate Inn, right next to the event center where the concert was held. Our package included lodging, concert tickets, dinner at the Blue Gate Restaurant, a full breakfast at the inn, and a gift card to the Blue Gate family of shops. My husband’s favorite part was the custard pie at the restaurant — it was yummy!
Of course we hit up some of the fabric shops in town, including Lolly’s Fabrics and Yoder’s. And I used my gift card at the Craft Barn to buy this Byers Choice fireplace for Barbie. The candelabra is removable, and I think I’ll take off the greenery to show off the candelabra better.
After drolling over some Amish furniture and quaint little shops, we headed to neighboring towns Middlebury and Elkhart for antiquing. There I found this oak salesman’s sample wash stand/cabinet and plastic grandfather clock, which looks pretty authentic for stickers on plastic.
