Antiquing treasures

This weekend, my husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary with an overnight trip to Ohio. On the way there, we stopped at a couple antique malls in Elkhart, Indiana, where I bought a couple hankies.

We stayed at a romantic hotel in Perrysburg, Ohio, (just outside Toledo) so we could go antiquing at the mammoth antique mall in Maumee. After 2 1/2 hours in the Maumee Antique Mall, I still didn’t see everything. However, I did find a booth jam packed with beautiful hankies …

Here’s a glimpse of some of the amazing hankies I found. Lots of petit point and pretty embroidered borders.

And this little Barbie sized miniature jumped into my hands.

I also found this lovely silk scarf.

I’m planning to donate a Silkstone Barbie dressed in a Hankie Chic fashion to the charity auction at the 2019 GAW Barbie Convention. The theme is Journey to Japan, so I thought this scarf could be a possibility to use for the doll’s outfit. The design looks Japanese inspired to me.

Here are my inspiration photos for the fashion I want to make … kind of a modern kimono over a long column dress. But maybe a little less gold and not quite so pink.

Altogether, a lovely weekend. Back home now with my feet up contemplating what to make next.
